Feel Like A Winner When You Bond Over Dinner

Who says dinnertime should lead straight to bedtime? It's actually a chance to connect, communicate, and create lasting memories with your children. And there's no better way to spark those moments than by venturing into the kitchen together.

Benefits of cooking together

Think beyond just whipping up a meal. Cooking with your kids is a fantastic opportunity to bond and offers a wealth of benefits. It can help address picky eating by giving them a sense of ownership over the food.

As they measure, stir, and witness the transformation of ingredients, they're more likely to be excited to try what they've helped create. This is also where healthy eating habits begin.  Involving them in the process lays the foundation for a lifelong appreciation of nutritious food.

Choosing the right recipe

But where do you start? Choosing the right recipe is key. Consider your child's age and any dietary restrictions. Younger children might enjoy simple tasks like stirring or tearing lettuce, while older ones can graduate to more complex techniques like chopping vegetables or kneading dough. Opt for recipes that are visually engaging and allow for participation throughout the process.

Making memories beyond the meal

The magic, however, extends far beyond the recipe itself. Set the table together, letting them choose colorful napkins or arranging the silverware. Talk about the different ingredients, where they come from, and their importance in a balanced diet. Let the conversation flow naturally – how was their day, what are they excited about?

Fun is key!

Most importantly, make it fun! Play some music, laugh at mishaps (spilled flour is a badge of honor!), and celebrate your creation together.

As a delicious bonus, try the traditional Filipino food classic, Egg Caldereta. This egg and veggie dish is perfect for little hands to help with, and it's sure to become a family favorite.

Egg Caldereta
