Chocolate Cake Frosting

Place cocoa powder in a large bowl or the bowl of a stand mixer and whisk to eliminate any lumps.

Blend butter and cocoa powder together until they are thoroughly mixed.

Put confectioner's sugar in a large bowl and whisk to remove lumps, or sift it into the bowl.

Gradually add confectioner's sugar and milk to the cocoa mixture, starting with 1 cup of sugar followed by a tablespoon of milk, mixing on high speed for about a minute after each addition.

Continue this process until all sugar and milk are incorporated.

Mix in vanilla extract and espresso powder thoroughly.

If the frosting is too dry, add more milk, one tablespoon at a time, until the desired consistency is achieved.

If the frosting is too wet and doesn't hold its shape, add more confectioner’s sugar, one tablespoon at a time, until the desired consistency is achieved.
