End Summer on a Cool Note

We’ve seen the many things people did to survive the season, such as always having a fan handy and flexing water tumblers of varying brands. But a time comes when we trade fans for umbrellas. Even though it seems like forever, eventually summer ends to make way for the rainy season.

But before it all ends, here are some end-of-summer tips to tide you over until the start of the next season.

Chew on Hydration

Keeping hydrated is a no-brainer—trendy even, considering all the fancy tumblers and flasks being featured on social media. But did you know that you also can eat certain foods to supplement your hydration? There are fruits and vegetables that are actually rich in water! Add some cucumbers, tomatoes, pineapples, melons or watermelons to your regular meals. When you do this on top of adequate water intake, thirstiness will be so last season!

Choose your ‘Fit’ Wisely

Got somewhere to be before summer ends? Planning your outfits ahead of time, even on a daily basis, helps make the summer heat bearable. Wear loose-fitting clothes made out of cooling, breathable fabrics like cotton and linen. Colors also play a part in how effective your clothes are for staving off the heat. We know black has always been the crowd favorite, but if you can choose light colors like yellow or orange for your tops, your body temperature will appreciate your smart fashion choice.

Keep it Cool

Getting ready to wean your household away from aircon dependency? That’ll certainly work wonders on your electricity bills. Blackout curtains also help retain cooled air in and warm outside air away from your cozy interiors. Don’t keep it closed for too long, you’ll miss out on that precious Vitamin D if you don’t get sunlight for a whole day.

Sweet Ways to Cool Down

We all need a sweet pick-me-up to get through the heat—even all throughout the next season, if you think about it. Keep an ear out for vendors selling all sorts of cool sweets like ice cream or coconut water.

Chill and Take a Trip

As much as we appreciate the amenities of our cities, the tradeoffs of living in crowded, condensed places come with a significant amount of heat. If the air-conditioned malls aren’t cooling you down as much as you hoped, give domestic tourism a try before the summer season ends. Some provinces boast fresh, cool air on top of the various experiences and learnings. Take your pick between a mountainous, high-level destination or a seaside tourist spot for a nice swim on the beach.

A season’s end is another’s beginning, and soon enough, the rain will start pouring. Take these tips to heart as the summer closes, then remember to keep those fans next to you moving forward!
